Schizophrenia and Its Distinction With DID

A general misconception about Schizophrenia is people take it as a split personality disorder like DID. But in this psychosis, there is no existence of multi personality but the affected person hears some voices from his inner side or experience extreme hallucination. Instead of emotional outburst, they gave negative attitude in work and carry on with a negative attitude for life. Severe lack of motivation and derailment and fluctuation in speech are major symptoms in this disease. The patient of schizophrenia experiences hallucination and command from some other voice but this are all part of his hallucination not an activity of his alter personality.

The problem of schizophrenia is neither genetic nor it is generated out of any childhood abuse memory. It is a kind of psychosis and is a kind of chronic disease. The problem with this psychosis is the gradual deterioration of the patient’s stamina and ultimately being confused in his own make-believe world he/she commits suicide.
On the other hand, the patients of Dissociative Identity Disorder shows some mal functioning in his behavior as it is being conducted by multiple personality and whenever he acts, he acts as per the personal trait of a personality existing within his entity. The mood swing, reluctance in eating, nervousness, negative outlook and attitude are all the revelation of his traumatic experience in future. DID can be controlled and never be cured, although cognitive therapy can control this disintegrated behavior. DID patients commits suicide and has a tendency to self-harm. In this line the disease Schizophrenia can be cured by medication and therapeutic intervention. It can be minimized; the mental disturbance of the patient is lower down or been pacified by the medical intervention. Suicidal tendency is created in these patients in last phase and 20%of these patients are successful in committing suicide.
